Jonah: A Study in Self Pity

This week Doug Han visits us from the church in St Louis. Doug gives us a quick overview of the story of Jonah to bring us to the last chapter in the story. Here we see Jonah's heart exposed by his anger with God for being merciful to a people that he hated. Jonah's response to God's call was to sit and wait for calamity instead of getting about the business of God's redemption in Nineveh.  Jonah's self pity caused brought him to a place of depression, selfishness, and stirred a desire for comfort that was more important that the lives of the people in Nineveh. The cure for this self pity is a humble obedience to the call of God and the revelation of God's heart for humanity.
